St. Norbert College Offering Community Outreach Events in April

St. Norbert College community outreach and language services will present a variety of classes and workshops this April, highlighting cultures and traditions from around the world. The classes and workshops, which are open to the public, include:


Job Search and Interviewing Skills
Tuesday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College Campus

This workshop, led by MaryEllen Olson, director of St. Norbert's office of career and professional development, will provide strategies to increase personal marketability by learning the rules and methods of online research, resume writing, networking, hiring trends and interviewing. The cost is $30; or $20 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni. Register by March 28 at http://www.snc.edu/outreach.


Cook, Eat & Speak Spanish
Saturday, April 8, at 10 a.m. in the UW Extension Office, 1150 Bellevue Street in Green Bay

This cooking class, taught by Rosemary Sands, invites participants to learn how to make tortilla española, one of Spain's most emblematic foods. Participants will not only learn how to make tortilla, but will also be given a list of indispensable kitchen items to ensure continued, easy preparation. The cost is $40 per person and includes instruction, food and materials. Register by March 31 at http://www.snc.edu/outreach.


Backyard Wildlife Ecosystems
Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m. on the St. Norbert College Campus

This workshop will introduce participants to the diversity of wildlife occurring in their very own backyards. Topics covered include how to identify common species, techniques to attract native wildlife year-round and ways to mitigate conflict with nuisance animals. Participants will be introduced to common birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, and will explore best practices to promote habitat quality. The workshop will be led by Adam Brandt, assistant professor of biology at St. Norbert College. The cost is $30; or $20 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni.
