St. Norbert College associate professor of education, and director of student teaching abroad, Bola Delano-Oriaran, edited a recently released reference source titled "Culturally Engaging Service-Learning with Diverse Communities," published through IGI Global.

The publication is a pivotal reference source for the latest scholarly research on service-learning models that recognize how systemic social injustices continue to pervade society. It features extensive coverage on a broad range of topics and perspectives, such as cultural humanity, oral histories and social ecology.

Delano-Oriaran earned a B.A. and M.P.A. (Master of Public Administration) from Savannah State University and her Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. She has more than 30 years of experience in engaging students from marginalized communities to pursue higher education opportunities. Her ongoing teaching and scholarship focus is in the areas of positioning people of color for academic and professional success, and engaging white communities and school districts in critical conversations on issues of race and social injustice. In 2015, she was recognized as one of the 28 most influential African-Americans in Wisconsin and has been the recipient of numerous awards on diversity issues and community change and has published papers and books, in addition to speaking publicly, about diversity and inclusion best practices.
