At the St. Norbert College Dance Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 11, students remained on their feet from 9 a.m. to 10:06 p.m., a total of 13.1 hours -- the hourly equivalent to half of a running marathon's 26.2 miles. By the end of that time, the marathon had raised $76,754.05 for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, a record amount at the college and for any Dance Marathon held in Wisconsin. This surpassed the group's 2017 goal of $70,000, and their total from last year of $56,007.04. The organization raised over $14,000 of that total on Nov. 11 alone.

Twelve families whose children receive care from the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin attended the event, including 14 children from those families. In solidarity, many of the St. Norbert students who attended the event decided to shave or cut their hair and donate it to children with cancer. The St. Norbert College Dance Marathon is an entirely student-run event, planned and managed by a student organization of about 40 members.
