The Baer Art Gallery at St. Norbert College will be holding two new art exhibits running from Jan. 22 to Feb. 16 in the Carol and Robert Bush Art Center on the college campus. The exhibits include Lightforms and Rafael Francisco Salas: Ballads of the Middle. A public reception for both exhibits will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Lightforms, in the Baer Gallery, features the work of Heather McKenna, Maria Rendon, Paul Simmons and Nicholas Szymanski and is guest curated by the founder and director of the popular art blog Young-Space, Kate Mothes. The four painters, all of whom work in abstraction, are from New York, Los Angeles and Michigan.
Ballads of the Middle, in the Godschalx Gallery, features the work of Rafael Francisco Salas, associate professor of art at Ripon College. His work combines landscape, the legacy of Byzantine iconography, portraiture, architecture and country music into artwork that evokes a strange, rural poetry. St. Norbert College art gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The art galleries at St. Norbert College are open to the public and admission is free.
