St. Norbert College Offering Community Outreach Events

St. Norbert College will be offering the following community outreach classes and workshops from now through mid-March. Registration and more information for all classes and workshops is available at http://www.snc.edu/outreach and the cost of each particular class or workshop is detailed below:

"Success for Written Communication: Grammar and Beyond" Workshop

This workshop will take place at St. Norbert College on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 6-8 p.m. The cost of attendance is $15 per person and registration is required by Tuesday, Feb. 13. This workshop will address improving the use of English grammar, including word forms, sentence structure, use of punctuation and other language points. This workshop will be led by Jana Dettlaff, an instructor in the English as a second language program at St. Norbert College.

"Nonprofit Knowledge and Nibbles: Conflict Resolution in Your Nonprofit" Workshop

This workshop will take place at St. Norbert College on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from noon-1:30 p.m. The cost of attendance is $25 per person and is limited to 50 participants. A buffet lunch is included with the cost of attendance. This workshop led by Jennifer Classon will address the basics of conflict resolution and effective communication in nonprofit organization environments.

"Sweetheart's Dinner" Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., Green Bay, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 6-8 p.m. The cost of attendance is $40 per person and includes instruction, food and materials. Registration is due by Tuesday, Feb. 13. In this cooking class, participants will learn how to cook dishes with tropical flavors, such as barbeque chicken and other recipes.

"Smoothies Showcase" Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place at the Brown County Culinary Kitchen, 2900 Curry Lane, Green Bay, on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6-8 p.m. The cost of attendance is $40 per person and includes instruction, food and materials. Registration is due by Thursday, Feb. 15. Participants will learn how to make delicious, nutrient-packed smoothies under the direction of Jamie Raisleger, a certified practitioner of the Living Foods Wellness Program.

"Beauty and Death: The Historical Price of Loveliness" Workshop

This workshop will take place at St. Norbert College on Thursday, March 1, from 6-8 p.m. The cost of attendance is $15 per person and registration is due by Thursday, Feb. 22. This workshop will feature April Beiswenger, associate professor of theatre studies at St. Norbert College, presenting various ways throughout history in which fashion choices eventually led to declines in personal health.

Mediterranean Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place at the Brown County Culinary Kitchen, 2900 Curry Lane, Green Bay, on Monday, March 5, from 6-8 p.m. Registration, which is due by Monday, Feb. 26, is $40 per person and includes instruction, food and materials. Sabrina Zerhouni will guide participants in cooking couscous and bourek, a traditional meat-filled pastry that is popular throughout the Mediterranean region, including Turkey, Greece and Algeria.

"Social Media Basics: What is Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat?" Workshop

This workshop will take place at St. Norbert College on Wednesday, March 7, from 2-3:30 p.m. The cost of attendance is $15 per person and registration is required by Thursday, March 1. Ben Hommerding, instructional technologist in St. Norbert College Information Technology Services (ITS), will teach attendees how to keep online social media accounts safe, talk about the different purposes of social media platforms, and answer questions about using social media products.
