St. Norbert College to Host First Survey of Oliver Ressler Artwork on Campus

St. Norbert College will host the first survey of Oliver Ressler's work in the United States from Monday, February 26 to Thursday, March 29 in the Bush Art Center galleries on campus, 403 Third St., De Pere. The exhibition focuses on forms of grassroots democracy as well as economic and political alternatives to the existing state of global affairs. The following public events will take place during the exhibition and are free and open to the public:

Thursday, March 1, at 4 p.m.

A panel discussion regarding "Art, Social Action and Grassroots Democracy," sponsored by the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice & Public Understanding, will take place in the Michels Ballroom on the college campus, 409 Third St., De Pere.

Thursday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The opening reception for the Ressler exhibition will take place in the Bush Art Center, 403 Third St., De Pere, with a special screening of "The Right of Passage."

Thursday, March 22, at 2 p.m.

A film screening of "Take the Square" will take place in the Bush Art Center, Room 130, on the college campus, 403 Third St., De Pere.

Ressler was born in Knittelfeld, Austria in 1970 and currently lives and works in Vienna, Austria where he attended the University for Applied Arts from 1989 to 1995. He is an artist and filmmaker who produces installations, projects in the public space and films on issues such as economics, democracy, global warming, forms of resistance and social alternatives. During his career, he has collaborated with artists around the world, including those from New York, Los Angeles and Berlin.
