The Medical College of Wisconsin-Green Bay (MCW) and St. Norbert College are partnering to offer high school students a summer academy of medicine experience June 19-22.

During the three-and-a-half-day program students will explore careers in medicine and the bio-medical sciences, engage in hands-on active learning in classrooms and laboratories and gain insights into the skills, educational paths and personal qualities required for a career as a physician, researcher or scientist.

The program will be housed in St. Norbert College's state-of-the-art Gehl-Mulva Science Center, home of MCW's Green Bay campus. Classes will be taught by faculty and students from MCW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College, with a strong emphasis on ethics, collaborative work and leadership.

The program is open to students entering their sophomore or junior year of high school; a limited number of scholarships are available. Participants will be housed in St. Joseph Hall on the St. Norbert campus. The cost is $600 per participant and includes meals, snacks, housing and evening activities. Parents will be invited to join their student for the closing ceremony and lunch, as well as tours of campus and sessions on college admission and financial aid.

The Summer Academy of Medicine is a unique opportunity for students to explore medicine as an academic field, a career path and a vocation, all while they enjoy a taste of life on a quintessential college campus.

Registration is open now. Go to http://www.snc.edu/academyofmedicine/ for more information or to register. There will be a limited number of slots available; act promptly to secure a place in the program. Prevea Health is the presenting sponsor of Summer Academy of Medicine.
