St. Norbert College Announces Mid-March to Mid-April Community Outreach Classes and Workshops

St. Norbert College will offer the following community outreach classes and workshops from now through mid-April. Registration and more information for all classes and workshops is available at http://www.snc.edu/outreach. The cost of each particular class or workshop is detailed below:

Spring Language Classes

St. Norbert College will begin its spring language classes for an eight-week session. Classes begin the week of March 19 unless otherwise noted. Registration is due by Monday, March 12, and is $175 per person, which includes textbooks and classroom materials. The courses available are as follows:

American Sign Language 2 on Wednesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. This course will not begin until March 28.

Chinese 1 on Tuesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. This course will not begin until March 27.

French 1 on Thursdays, from 6 to 8 p.m. This course will not begin until March 29.

German 2 on Wednesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Italian 2 on Tuesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Italian 3 on Thursdays, form 6 to 8 p.m.

Oneida on Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Russian on Wednesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Spanish 1 on Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Spanish 2 on Wednesdays, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Spanish 3 on Tuesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Advanced Spanish on Tuesdays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

"Nonprofit Knowledge and Nibbles: Millennials in the Workforce" Workshop

This workshop will take place on Monday, March 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. The cost is $25 per person and includes a buffet lunch. Space is limited to 50 attendees. It will review the multiple generations in the workforce today, including the characteristics of the millennial generation and the value this demographic adds. It will be presented by MaryEllen Olson, director of the Office of Career and Professional Development at St. Norbert College, with Brynna Coutley of Northwestern Mutual.

"Chinese for Travelers" Presentation

This presentation will take place on Tuesday, March 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $15 and is due by Tuesday, March 13. This presentation will take attendees on a virtual trip through the countryside of mainland China.

"Spring Breakfasts and Brunches" Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place on Thursday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, 605 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Registration is $35 per person and includes instruction, food and materials. This class will guide participants in learning to make cheese blintzes, eggs florentine and lingonberry crepes.

Google Photos Workshop

This workshop will take place on Thursday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $15 and is due by Thursday, March 15. This workshop will instruct attendees on how to use Google Photos for unlimited storage and how to use several other key features of this service from Google.

"Tacos from Scratch" Cooking Class

This workshop will take place on Monday, March 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., Green Bay. Registration is $40 per person, which includes instruction, food and materials, and is due by Monday, March 19. This class will teach attendees on how to make homemade tortillas and cinnamon churros.

"Food for Life" Workshop

This workshop will take place on Wednesday, March 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $15 per person and due by Wednesday, March 21. This workshop will explore how we can turn communities into food-secure landscapes and understand food justice as a local movement that is social and environmental.

"Veggie Sushi" Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place on Tuesday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brown County Culinary Kitchen, 2900 Curry Lane, Green Bay. Registration is due by Wednesday, March 28, and is $40 per person, which includes instruction, food and materials. Attendees will learn how to prepare classic Japanese sushi without meat, seafood, dairy, eggs, gluten, processed sugar or soy.

"Andy Warhol: An A-Z Overview of Pop Culture" Workshop

This workshop will take place on Thursday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $15 and is due by Friday, March 30. This workshop will explore the life and work of Andy Warhol.

"Sopes from Scratch" Cooking Class

This cooking class will take place on Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., Green Bay. Registration is due by Tuesday, April 3, and is $40 per person, which includes instruction, food and materials. Attendees will learn how to make sopes, a traditional Mexican dish made with corn dough.

"Understanding Somali Culture and Traditions" Workshop

This workshop will take place on Thursday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the St. Norbert College campus. Registration is $15 per person and is due by Thursday, April 5. While the workshop is designed for educators, health care workers and social services workers, all are welcome to attend and gain a basic understanding of Somali culture, language and experience in northeast Wisconsin.
