St. Norbert College students of all class years are traveling to do service rather than for pleasure this spring break. Three groups of students depart from De Pere this weekend to participate in the Turning Responsibility into Powerful Service (TRIPS) program. Those TRIPS are detailed below:

March 9 to 17

The following students will travel to Spartanburg, S.C.: Grace Brick (Riverside, Ill.), Sarah Jensen (Wausau, Wis.), Kelsey Keast (De Pere, Wis.), Danielle Matuszak (Green Bay, Wis.), Morgan McClone (Neenah, Wis.), Joseph Mohr (Brussels, Wis.), Cate O'Brien (Wauwatosa, Wis.), Brein Princl (De Pere, Wis.), Abby Schiltz (Burlington, Wis.) and Abby Vandenhouten (Wales, Wis.). The students will work with Christmas in Action, a nonprofit organization that aims to prevent substandard housing and to prevent the elderly from being forced into nursing homes. The students will build ramps with other volunteers and partners in the community.

March 9 to 17

The following students will travel to Little Rock, Ark.: Nataly Alanis (Milwaukee), Paige Bonner (Milwaukee), Kristi Chernesky (Wauconda, Ill.), Elizabeth Dannecker (Milwaukee), Naomy Garcia (Green Bay, Wis.), Bryan Gonzalez (Chicago), Kelly Hennif (Lombard, Ill.), Keanna Lucero (Albuquerque, N.M.), William Myers (Port Washington, Wis.), Alexandra Rosendahl (La Crescent, Minn.) and Carly Thiel (Chicago). The students will work with Habitat for Humanity to help restore homes with other volunteers and the homeowners, in addition to helping with projects in the ReStore, a nonprofit home-improvement store and donation center.

March 11 to 15

The following students will travel to Milwaukee: Katelyn Haen (Appleton, Wis.), Holly Hammann (Evansville, Wis.), Haley Herbst (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.), Megan Lau (De Pere, Wis.), Sarah Marver (Sheboygan, Wis.), Julia Runke (Wallace, Mich.), Anna Sauer (Belgium, Wis.), Elizabeth Scheuer (Menasha, Wis.), Neale Tracy (Marshfield, Wis.) and Abigail Valerius (Grafton, Wis.). The students will work with St. Norbert College alumni at the St. Anthony School in Milwaukee to help the elementary school students learn what it means to go to college. Later in the semester, this group of students will also host fifth-grade students from the St. Anthony School at St. Norbert College.
