St. Norbert College is hosting its annual Relay for Life event for the college and local community on Saturday, April 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the new Mulva Family
Fitness and Sports Center, 601 Third St., De Pere. Registration is $10 per person and can be found at http://www.snc.edu/go/relayforlife, with all proceeds, including
the registration fee, going directly to the fundraising goal of $20,000. Hosted by the student organization Colleges Against Cancer, the event is open to all, including
families, in the De Pere and Greater Green Bay communities. Local businesses are invited to lend their support as well. The event is organized entirely by students at
St. Norbert College.
Relay for Life was founded by the American Cancer Society and is held annually in 19 countries, on six continents and in over 4,700 communities. It began in 1985
when Gordy Klatt, M.D., a practicing surgeon, walked around a track in Tacoma, Wash., for 24 hours and raised $27,000 for his local American Cancer Society. The
goals of Relay for Life are to give communities a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones and fight back against
the disease by raising funds and awareness.
