Ashwaubenon, Wis. High School senior Briah Larson is the 2018 recipient of the Robert and Carol Bush Vocal Music Award, presented by the Dudley Birder Chorale of St. Norbert College. Larson will receive the award of $500 at the chorale’s performance of “America Sings” at St. Norbert College’s Walter Theatre on Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m., where she will also appear as a featured soloist. Larson’s vocal music teacher, Teresa Schroepfer, will also receive a $500 award, and Ashwaubenon High School will be presented with a $300 award for its choral library.

The endowed program of the Bush Vocal Music Award was established in 2003 for the Dudley Birder Chorale by Robert and Carol Bush as a means to promote vocal music in high schools. Each year, the recipient is selected from a high school located in one of the communities represented by membership in the chorale. These communities include high schools from the following counties: Brown, Outagamie, Kewaunee, Shawano, Door, Manitowoc and Oconto.

Auditions were held Sunday, April 8, at St. Norbert College. Competing high school students were recommended by their teachers as outstanding junior or senior vocal students.
