St. Norbert College Music Theatre, in association with Play-by-Play Theatre, will present Bob Carlton’s “Return to the Forbidden Planet,” with performances running from Wednesday, June 13, to Saturday, June 23. There are no performances on Monday, June 18, or Tuesday, June 19. All shows are at 7:30 p.m., except for a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, June 17, and Saturday, June 23. The full schedule of performances and tickets, which start at $22, are available at http://www.snc.edu/tickets or by calling the St. Norbert College Box Office at 920-403-3950.

“Return to the Forbidden Planet” is a musical inspired by Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” featuring rock ‘n’ roll classics such as “Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Good Vibrations” and “Gloria” in a sci-fi environment.

Play-by-Play Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional regional theater company in Green Bay, now in its fifth season, that is based on an ensemble approach to theater. Play-by-Play’s board members include several St. Norbert College alumni: Mary Ehlinger, Carolyn Silverberg and Teresa Schmidt. Ehlinger will direct this music theater performance.

Ehlinger has worked in many regional theaters across the country, including Broadway, where she was in the original cast and show and was the show musical director for the American premiere of “Return to the Forbidden Planet.” Also, a composer, Ehlinger’s work has been performed during numerous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades and at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops. After graduating from St. Norbert College in 1976, she received her master’s degree from Louisiana State University. Ehlinger continues the legacy of her late husband, Mark Silverberg, co-founder and managing director of Play-by-Play Theatre, who passed away in 2017.
