St. Norbert College music department alumni will present a Dudley Birder and Marshall Moss endowed scholarships benefit recital on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m., with cash-bar refreshments starting at 6:30 p.m. The recital will take place at Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. St. Norbert College music department graduates will perform at the event, including Brad Liebl ('70), Teresa Seidl ('70), Mark Matanaer ('68), Rita Baretta ('86), Chad Lemerande ('91), Alicia Birder ('80) and Ben Olejniczak ('17). The Dudley Birder Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 to provide a scholarship to a St. Norbert College student each year who has demonstrated financial need and is majoring in music or theatre studies. The scholarship honors Dudley Birder for his lifetime commitment to St. Norbert College. Birder founded music theatre at St. Norbert College in 1962 and served as producer, director and/or musical director for all 96 of its musicals. He founded the Dudley Birder Chorale and served as the director from 1974 to 2018.
The Marshall Moss Endowed Scholarship was established in 2000 to provide St. Norbert College junior and senior music students with financial assistance. Its namesake, Marshall Moss, worked at the college as a dedicated professor of music for 37 years. The scholarship fund was initiated by Moss’ son and daughter-
in-law, Christopher and Sarah Moss, both St. Norbert College alumni.
