St. Norbert College students, faculty and staff will participate in Dance Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 10:06 p.m. The event will take place in the gymnasium of the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center on the college’s campus.
Dance Marathon is a fundraiser on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network. All proceeds and donations generated by the event go directly to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Participants will remain on their feet for the duration of the marathon, and no caffeine will be allowed. At 13.1 hours, Dance Marathon is the hourly equivalent of half a running marathon’s distance (26.2 miles). Throughout the event, local families whose children have been treated at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will speak about their experiences and interact with students.
Dance Marathon is an entirely student-run fundraiser that is planned and managed by a student organization of about 40 members. In 2017, the fifth year of Dance Marathon, more than $76,000 was raised for the children’s hospital. This year, Dance Marathon's organizers hope to raise $95,000 and are expecting more than 200 participants.
