St. Norbert College student Sarah M. Verzal (Bristol, Wis.) was recently awarded a study abroad-grant worth $1,000 from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Currently a junior majoring in international business, Verzal will use the grant to study abroad in Toledo, Spain, at the José Ortega-Marañón Foundation. She is one of 25 students nationwide to receive the award.
Established in  2001, the Study Abroad Grant Program has awarded more than $800,000 to undergraduate students. The grants are designed to support undergraduates, both members and nonmembers from campuses that have Phi Kappa Phi chapters, as they seek expanded knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Founded in 1897, the society has chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States and the Philippines. Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and top 7.5 percent of juniors. The society’s mission is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”
