Students, faculty and staff of St. Norbert College will celebrate and serve on “Make It a Day On, Not a Day Off,” the college’s Martin Luther King Jr. day of service, on Monday, Jan. 14. The college is holding its day of service a week earlier than the national day of service (Jan. 21), as second semester classes begin that day.

The event involves a day of service to the local community, during which members of the St. Norbert College community teach elementary students about King’s message of respect for others and assist area social service agencies.

Student-athletes from the men’s and women’s track and field teams at St. Norbert will conduct educational sessions in De Pere elementary schools, including Notre Dame (8:45-9:30 a.m.), Hemlock Creek (9-10 a.m.) and Westwood (10:30-11:20 a.m.).

From 10 a.m. to noon, college community members, including the swimming and diving teams and the women’s basketball team, will volunteer at area social service agencies, including the St. Vincent de Paul store, Paul’s Pantry, Freedom House, the Einstein Project, Feeding America and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The Martin Luther King Jr. day of service is endorsed by the administration of St. Norbert College. For more information, contact Susan Angoli at susan.angoli@snc.edu or 920-403-3374.
