St. Norbert College Announces Audition Dates for "Singin' in the Rain"

St. Norbert College Music Theatre’s Summer Stage production of “Singin’ in the Rain” hits the stage July 11 through 21. Auditions will be held this March on the St. Norbert campus. All genders and ethnicities are encouraged to participate. Registration for auditions is required in advance and can be found at http://www.snc.edu/summerstage along with further details. Audition and callback dates and times are as follows:

Friday, March 8
Auditions: 5:30 to 10 p.m.
Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts

Saturday, March 9
Auditions: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts

Sunday, March 10
Auditions: 1 to 3 p.m.
Callbacks: 6 to 8 p.m.

Those auditioning should arrive 15 minutes early and be warmed up vocally and physically. Comfortable clothing should be worn so as to be prepared for choreography. Résumés and headshots are encouraged but not required. Auditions will take place in groups of 10. Groups will spend 60 minutes singing and speaking, and 60 minutes in movement and choreography.

All auditionees must sing at least one musical theatre selection during their auditions, and should have one or two selections prepared. Selections may be up to one minute long. An accompanist will be provided, but participants may bring their own. No tapes, CDs or iPods will be allowed. Those interested in a speaking role must prepare a two-minute comic monologue of your choosing, or be prepared to read from a selection of plays chosen by the director.

Callbacks will take place March 10. Those being called back will be notified March 9; those auditioning on March 10 will be notified immediately after their auditions. Participants are required to attend the entire callback session.

Music published by EMI. Screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed. “Singin’ in the Rain” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International http://www.MTIShows.com.
