Hearing Movies: Exploring Sound in Cinema

Thursday, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the college’s campus. Learn about the roles of sound -" from music and noise to dialogue and silence -" in crafting atmosphere, suspense and narrative in film. This workshop will explore sound in Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1968 epic, “2001: A Space Odyssey.” It is strongly suggested that participants watch the film before attending the workshop.
Registration is $15 for the general public and $10 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni (with valid school ID). The registration deadline is Thursday, March 28.
The workshop will be led by Leah Toth, assistant professor of English at St. Norbert College.

NonProfit Knowledge & Nibbles: Trends in the Workplace

Tuesday, April 23, from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the college’s campus. This workshop will use current research to explore behavioral patterns of the millennial generation while acknowledging common misperceptions. A discussion of these trends will also focus on evolving organizational landscapes and contemporary workplace structures. Practical tips and tools for managing and working in a generationally diverse workplace will focus on ways in which others may use their own generational influences to productively work alongside this millennial shift.

Registration is $25 per person. A sandwich lunch will be provided at no extra cost. The registration deadline is Monday, April 15.

The workshop will be led by Kim Smith, assistant professor of communication and media studies at St. Norbert College.

Oneida Heritage Workshop

Tuesday, April 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the college’s campus. During this workshop, participants will deepen their understanding of the Oneida culture and experience in northeast Wisconsin.

Registration is $15 for the general public and $10 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni (with valid school ID). The registration deadline is Monday, April 15.

However, people’s computers and accounts are compromised every day because of poor security practices on the web. In this workshop, participants will learn how to browse the internet safely and securely, how to keep passwords and accounts safe, and how to avoid internet scams.

Registration is $15 for the general public and $10 for St. Norbert College students, faculty, staff and alumni (with valid school ID). The registration deadline is Tuesday, April 23.

The workshop will be led by Ben Hommerding, instructional technologist at St. Norbert College.
