St. Norbert College Music Department Announces March Music Events

The St. Norbert College music department will present a variety of concerts and recitals in March. Tickets to all events can be purchased from the St. Norbert College Box Office by calling 920-403-3950 or visiting https://www.snc.edu/tickets. Details are as follows:

Big Band Snowball Concert & Dance: Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Michels Commons Ballroom on the college’s campus. The annual event will feature live music from the St. Norbert College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Eric High, assistant professor of music and low brass at St. Norbert College. A local dance instructor will provide dance lessons. The event includes a cash bar, gourmet desserts and door prizes. Tickets are $20.
Griffon String Quartet: Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. Establishing itself as one of the most vibrant and engaging quartets of its generation, the Griffon String Quartet is the resident string quartet of Midsummer’s Music in Door County, Wis. Formed in the fall of 2018, the quartet was launched as a collaboration between Midsummer’s Music, St. Norbert College and the Fine Arts Institute at Green Bay East High School. Tickets are $12.

SNC Youth Orchestra Spring Concert: Sunday, March 15, at 4 p.m. at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, 2420 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay. Providing an opportunity for highly skilled musicians aged 8-22, the Youth Orchestra Program’s three ensembles are led by professional conductors. Weekly rehearsals are held at St. Norbert College.

Tickets purchased in advance are $12 for adults and $8 dollars for students; tickets purchased at the door are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Faculty Artist Series Piano & Voice Recital: Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. The concert will feature Yi-Lan Niu, associate professor of music at St. Norbert College; Elaine Moss, continuing part-time instructor of music and accompanist at St. Norbert College; and John
Hennecken, assistant professor of music at St. Norbert College. The concert is free and open to the public.

St. Norbert College Community Band Concert: Monday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Theatre of the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, 315 Third St., De Pere. The St. Norbert College community band presents two major concerts each year. The group was formed to provide an opportunity for outstanding musicians from northeast Wisconsin to experience the finest available band literature. Membership in the band is by invitation of the conductor; the band is comprised of friends, alumni and faculty of St. Norbert College. Tickets are $6.
