Two St. Norbert College alumni are among the eight Golden Apple Award recipients this year. Joan Brylski (‘06) of Pulaski High School and Nicky Van Laanen (‘97) of Ashwaubenon High School received the prestigious awards earlier this month. An awards ceremony will be held on April 15 at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay.

The Golden Apple Awards Program, organized by the Greater Green Bay Chamber, improves community awareness of the quality of education in the Greater Green Bay area by recognizing high standards of professionalism, leadership and innovation in teaching.

Eight recipients (individuals and/or teams) are selected annually through a multi-level screening of anonymous applications and personal interviews. Selection criteria are based on the National Board for Professional Teaching standards, which identify the essential knowledge, skills and dispositions expected of experienced, quality teachers. This year, the Greater Green Bay Chamber received more than 2,000 award nominations.
