Jennifer Hockenbery Dragseth, Ph.D., was named dean of humanities at St. Norbert College effective July 1. Hockenbery previously served as a professor and chair of the theology and philosophy departments at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, where she worked for 22 years.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. Jennifer Hockenbery Dragseth to St. Norbert College,” said Jennifer Bonds-Raacke, vice president for academic affairs at St. Norbert. “As a faculty leader, her previous experiences as a department chair and her committee work related to promotion and tenure and faculty development will be invaluable to the college.”
The dean serves as the academic and administrative leader for the division of humanities and advocates for the mission, purpose and support of the division’s programs. The dean exercises responsibility over all internal and external activities impacting the division, including the implementation of its strategic plan and its financial management. The division of humanities employs 58 faculty at St. Norbert College.

The division of humanities consists of six academic disciplines: communications and media studies, English, history, modern languages and literatures, philosophy, and theology and religious studies. The humanities division also sponsors five interdisciplinary programs: American studies, classical studies, humanities, integrative studies, and women’s and gender studies.

The dean of humanities has supervisory responsibilities over the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (M.L.S.) and the Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) graduate programs.
