St. Norbert College has joined a cohort of 20 colleges and universities from across North America for the fifth cohort of NASPA’s (an organization of student affairs administrators in higher education) Culture of Respect Collective program. The Collective is an ambitious two-year program that guides cohort institutions through a rigorous process of self-assessment and targeted organizational change.

“At all levels, St. Norbert College is committed to supporting a learning and working environment that protects the sacred dignity of the human person and fosters the mutual respect necessary for communio to flourish,” said Sarah Olejniczak, Title IX and compliance coordinator at St. Norbert College. “As such, any and all efforts to prevent sexual violence and respond in trauma-informed, compassionate ways are critical to the success of the community.”

Each diverse cohort of the Collective relies on an expert-developed public health framework, cross-campus collaboration and peer-led learning to make meaningful programmatic and policy changes. More than 120 colleges and universities have participated in the Collective. The program has shown itself to be an adaptable model that helps institutions - large to small, public and private, in multiple geographic areas of North America - work across departmental siloes and stay connected with peers as they engage in the critical work of comprehensively addressing campus sexual violence, within a shifting social and political landscape.
“We are calling this effort Knights Ending Sexual Violence: A Collaborative Beyond Compliance,” said Olejniczak. “Our efforts will engage cross-sections of the campus community - including faculty, staff, students and local community agencies - in this important work. We are a part of the collective in Cohort 5, which will cover all of 2021 and 2022.”
