John Miller Jr. has been named dean of curriculum and senior diversity officer at St. Norbert College effective July 1.

Miller was department chair and professor of social work at Benedict College, a private school in Columbia, S.C. He also spent a decade as an assistant and associate professor (with tenure) at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Dr. John Miller to the St. Norbert community,” said Jennifer Bonds-Raacke, vice president for academic affairs. “John’s extensive experience in faculty mentoring and his proven success in building diversity and inclusion-related programs and partnerships will be invaluable to both St. Norbert College and the greater De Pere and Green Bay community.”
While Miller was in Arkansas, he was appointed as the university’s inaugural faculty fellow from 2014-2016 and created and directed the institution’s first campus-wide faculty mentoring program. He also led the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s diversity council and served as the inaugural provost’s faculty fellow. As chair of the council, Miller led a group of faculty, staff and student colleagues to establish the initial vision, mission and goals of the council to create and lead new diversity and inclusion campus programs and conduct annual surveys and reports.

“I strive to connect people with others and provide opportunities to help them achieve their career goals,” Miller said. “I look forward to serving as the inaugural dean of curriculum and senior diversity officer at St. Norbert College.”
