St. Norbert College to Hold Annual College Community Celebration with Music/Fireworks on Aug. 28

St. Norbert College will kick off the new school year on Sunday, Aug. 28, with a number of activities that will offer the whole college community an opportunity to come together to celebrate the start of a new school year. Faculty, students and staff, along with their families, can enjoy the following:

4 p.m. Mass of the Holy Spirit at Old St. Joseph Church.

5:45 p.m. Faculty/staff robing; first-year students line-up for convocation procession.

6 p.m. College-wide convocation with interim president Thomas Kunkel’s opening remarks will be held on the lawn in front of the Campus Center. (Rain site is Walter Theatre in Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts.)

6:30 p.m. Picnic; concert provided by Almost Normal by the gazebo near the Campus Center. (Rain site is Michels Commons.)

8:30 p.m. Fireworks (Weather permitting)

St. Norbert College would like to notify neighbors in the surrounding De Pere community that a brief fireworks show will take place on campus Sunday, Aug. 28, at 8:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The fireworks will be presented as a culmination of the college's annual opening day celebration in honor of the start of the school year. Students, along with faculty and staff and their families, will be present for the celebration.

The fireworks will last approximately 10-15 minutes. Everyone in the community can enjoy the fireworks display, which will be launched over the Fox River near the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center. The display will be visible from either side of the river.
