St. Norbert College Announces Lineup for Great Decisions Lecture Series

St. Norbert College’s Center for Global Engagement (CGE) will host its annual Great Decisions Lecture Series beginning Wednesday, Feb. 8. Lectures are presented virtually on Zoom every other Wednesday, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., through April 26. Each year, the lecture series focuses on critical global issues selected by the Foreign Policy Association that serves to initiate dialogue and debate.

The lecture series is free and open to the public; community members are encouraged to join accomplished experts, faculty, staff and students in a 20-mintue Q&A session following the 40-minute lecture.

The 2023 Great Decisions Lecture Series lineup is as follows:

Feb. 8: Patricia Terry, professor of engineering at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, presents “Energy Geopolitics.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/energy-geopolitics.

Feb. 15: Shirin Saeidi with Sara Ghadiri, assistant professor of Middle Eastern studies and director of Middle Eastern studies at the University of Arkansas, presents “Iran at a Crossroads.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/iran.

March 8: Gratzia Villarroel, associate professor of political science at St. Norbert College, presents “Politics in Latin America - The Rise of Left-Wing Governments.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/latin-america-politics.

March 22: Mark Bockenhauer, professor of geography at St. Norbert College, presents “Climate Migration - The Human Impact of Climate Change.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/climate-migration.

April 12: Shale Horowitz, professor of political science at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, presents “The New Era in China-U.S. Relations: Economics and Military Security.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/china-us-relations.

April 26: Representative from World Food Programme, specific speaker to be confirmed, presents “Global Famine - Lack of Food Worldwide.” Register at https://snc.edu/go/global-famine.

The CGE is the hub of all international activity at St. Norbert College and provides global opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the community.
