St. Norbert College Announces February and March Music and Art Events

The St. Norbert College box office has announced the lineup for February and March music and art events. To purchase tickets online, follow this link: http://snc.edu/tickets. The box office is open Monday through Friday, from noon to 4 p.m., in the Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, 315 Third St., De Pere.

The lineup is as follows:
Guest Artist Recital Trio: Barrera, Redwine & Casarotti: Music from the Americas This recital features St. Norbert College Assistant Professor of Piano João Paulo Casarotti and special guest artists Megan Barrera (soprano) and Ben Redwine (clarinet). Casarotti is a Brazilian pianist and pedagogue. This event is free and open to the public. The event is on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall.

Speculative Futures: Visions from Caregiving Printmakers Speculative Futures is a portfolio of prints that imagine the future of caregiving. Participating artists are caregiving printmakers. The exhibit will be in the Baer Gallery in the Bush Art Center beginning on Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m., and will remain through Tuesday, March 28. There will be a panel discission with curators Carrie Scanga and Katie Ries, and with labor historian Jessica Wilkerson on March 23 at 10 a.m. in Bush Art Center Room 130, with a reception to follow.


Design Localitas The exhibit will be in the Godschalx Gallery in the Bush Art Center beginning on Monday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m., and will remain through Tuesday, March 28. The exhibit will feature designs by the St. Norbert College Student Design Center.


Spring SNC Community Band Concert The St. Norbert community band presents two major concerts each year. The group was formed to provide an opportunity for outstanding musicians from northeast Wisconsin to experience the finest available band literature. This free event is on Monday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Walter Theatre in the Abbot Penning Hall of Fine Arts. There will also be a free livestream: http://snc.edu/go/vpa-livestreams.


Big Band Snowball Concert & Dance 2023 The St. Norbert College music department presents its annual Big Band Snowball Dance. The Big Band Snowball will feature live music provided by the St. Norbert College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Eric High. There will be a cash bar, gourmet desserts and door prizes. Tickets are $25 for both the general public and students. The event is on Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Michels Commons Ballroom, 409 Third St., De Pere.

Guest Artist Recital: Michael Gurt The St. Norbert Music Department presents guest pianist, Michael Gurt, professor of piano at Louisiana State University and winner of the Gina Bachauer International Competition. This free event is on Sunday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. There will also be a free livestream: http://snc.edu/go/vpa-livestreams.


String Quartet & Composition Concert String Quartet is led by Luis Fernandez SNC visiting professor or strings and music education and the Robert and Joan Bauer Professor of Strings at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Blakeley Menghini, principal violist of the Weidner Philharmonic and the Civic Symphony of Green Bay and Michael Dewhirst, principal cello of the Weidner Philharmonic. This performance will feature music composed by current SNC students. This free event is on Tuesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. Guest Artist Recital: Christopher Probst A versatile musician, Probst has performed and/or recorded with many artists including Arturo Sandoval, Dave Brubeck, Kevin Mahogany and the Catalina Chamber Orchestra. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, as well as in Mexico, Canada, England, the Czech Republic and China. This free event is on Monday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere. There will also be a free livestream: http://snc.edu/go/vpa-livestreams.


Faculty Recital: Dr. Yi-Lan Niu “Songs and Stories” These recitals are free and open to the public that highlight our talented faculty in their area of expertise. Performances are by Warren Gerds (narrator), Yi-Lan Niu (soprano) and Elaine Moss (piano). This free event is on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant St., De Pere.
