St. Norbert College is celebrating Black History Month with a series of events that raise awareness of African American culture through the gifts of African Americans in scholarship, music and food.

The events are as follows:

Sneakers & Black History Artifacts Display: Artifacts from St. Norbert College related to Black History Month will be displayed on the first and second floor of the Mulva Library, 400 Third St., from Feb. 5 through Feb. 21. This event will feature sneakers from different St. Norbert College community members ahead of the Sneakers Showcase Summit.

Sneakers Showcase Summit: The college will host special guest Jacarrie Carr, founder and chief executive officer of Jacarrie’s Kicks For Kids Inc., on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Cassandra Voss Center, 311 Grant St. Participants will learn about entrepreneurship, emphasizing giving back, as well as shoe restoration and more. Attendees will have a chance to win gift cards to buy sneakers. This event is free and open to the public. Register at http://snc.edu/go/sneakers-summit.

“Tell Them We Are Rising!” Viewing: St. Norbert College is hosting the viewing of “Tell Them We Are Rising” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Fort Howard Theater located in the F. K. Bemis International Center. This documentary focuses on the history behind Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the impact these institutions played throughout history.
