The St. Norbert College theatre department will present "Songs for a New World" on April 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m., April 15 at 2:00 p.m. and April 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Webb Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts. "Songs for a New World" will be performed in collaboration with the St. Norbert College theatre program and the student-run organization Knight Theatre. Knight Theatre generally produces one musical a year and has previously been entirely run by student theatre enthusiasts. St. Norbert College faculty members Stephen Rupsch, director of theatre and Megan Wilkerson, assistant professor of communications, media and theatre stepped in this year and offered their assistance. Together, the two St. Norbert groups are creating quite a theatrical stir on campus. "Songs for A New World" will have a total of 44 students involved in the production, 26 directly involved and 18 students working indirectly to bring about its success. "Songs for A New World" has been described as a musical tapestry. The collection of songs transports the audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of poverty to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soul-less marriage. These are the stories and characters in the "Songs for a New World." The following is a list of our singer/actors and their hometowns: Laura Asma - Green Bay, Wis.
