Policy

St. Norbert College values its employees and their families, and embraces the Norbertine ideal of communio, which involves a united community working toward intellectual, spiritual and personal development. The college also has a strong Catholic tradition. With this in mind, the college partnered with Green Bay Area Catholic Education (GRACE) and Notre Dame Academy (NDA) to provide CatholicLink, an educational employee discount program. The program’s goal is to provide exceptional faith-based educational experiences for the dependents of St. Norbert, GRACE and NDA employees, plus employees of the parishes that support GRACE and NDA.

CatholicLink provides a 50 percent tuition discount to faculty and staff dependents who are accepted into one of the nine GRACE schools (K-8) or NDA (grades 9-12). The discount is available every year of attendance. School fees are not covered.

If an eligible employee drops below full-time status or terminates employment, the tuition discount terminates at the end of the semester in which they were actively employed full time.

Definitions
Dependent
A dependent is a child or stepchild who you’ve claimed as an exemption on your tax filing for the year preceding the school year in which the discount applies. For example, if you’re applying for a tuition discount for the 2021-22 school year, you must have claimed this dependent on your 2020 tax return.

In addition, dependent status is extended to:

  • Children who are claimed as exemptions on a divorced spouse’s tax return
  • Children who are claimed as exemptions on a surviving spouse’s tax return in the event of an eligible employee’s death

Eligible Employees
You’re eligible for the CatholicLink tuition discount if you are eligible for other college benefits.

St. Norbert also extends this discount to otherwise ineligible employees who become completely and permanently disabled and unable to continue or maintain any form of employment with any employer. In such cases, the eligible employee’s dependent children must enroll in a GRACE school or NDA within five years of the day the employee’s permanent and total disability began, or the day their employment ended due to the disability, whichever occurs first. To keep the annual discount, the dependent child(ren) must remain enrolled in school. Any break in enrollment ends the discount.

Procedure

To obtain the tuition discount:

  • Complete an application form and submit it to Human Resources no later than Nov. 1 to be eligible for a discount covering the following academic year. You must submit an application for every year you’d like to receive the discount.
  • If your application is accepted, you will receive written notification.
  • If your application is rejected and you wish to appeal the decision, contact Human Resources.
