Compensation: Overtime Pay

Purpose: To define pay parameters when a nonexempt employee works more than 40 hours in a workweek

Policy

The college will pay time-and-a-half to nonexempt employees who work more than 40 hours in a workweek. (The workweek runs from Sunday at 12 a.m. to Saturday at 11:59 p.m.) Your supervisor must authorize any overtime hours before you work them. Paid leave, such as holiday, sick and vacation pay, doesn’t count toward your work hours in any given workweek.

In general, St. Norbert tries to limit the need for nonexempt employees to work overtime to help control and predict expenses.

Procedure

You must secure your supervisor’s approval before working more than 40 hours in a workweek.

You must report any overtime on that week’s employee timesheet.
