Policy

St. Norbert College will only hire relatives of current employees if:

  1. The candidate for employment will not be working directly for, or supervising, the relative
  2. The candidate for employment will not occupy a position of authority in which they could initiate or participate in decisions involving a direct benefit to the relative. Such decisions include hiring, retention, transfers, promotions, wages and leave requests.

This policy is in place due to the potential for perceived or actual conflicts of interest, such as favoritism or personal conflicts from outside the work environment, which can be carried into daily working relationships.

The hiring supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy. Department directors are responsible for monitoring employees who report the college has hired a family member to ensure compliance with this policy. Employees are responsible for immediately notifying their supervisor if a family member has been hired.
