Policy

St. Norbert College understands the deep impact that death can have on an individual or a family, and wants to support its employees during their times of grief and bereavement. Thus, the college provides full-time employees with paid time off in the event of a family member’s death. This time may be used to make arrangements, attend the funeral and/or manage grief.

  • Five days of paid time off are available upon the death of an immediate family member.
  • Two consecutive days of paid time off are available upon the death of an extended family member.

Additional unpaid days off may be granted if there are extenuating circumstances, such as distance, the responsibility for making funeral arrangements or the responsibility for taking care of the deceased’s estate.

Additional unpaid time off also may be granted for personal reasons. Please discuss any personal circumstances with your supervisor and Human Resources to determine what accommodations can be made.
