Students, faculty and staff of St. Norbert College will celebrate and serve on "Make It a Day On, Not a Day Off," the college's Martin Luther King Jr. day of service on Monday, Jan. 15.
The event involves a day of service to the local community, during which members of the St. Norbert community will teach elementary students about King's message of respect for others and assist area social service agencies.

Because public and private schools in the Green Bay/De Pere area will be closed on Martin Luther King Day, roughly 80 student-athletes from the men's and women's track and field teams at St. Norbert will conduct educational sessions in elementary schools on Friday, Jan. 12. The student-athletes will be Westwood (8:50-9:40 a.m.), Notre Dame in De Pere (9:45-10:40 a.m.) and Hemlock (10:15-11 a.m.)

St. Norbert president Brian Bruess and his wife, Carol, will speak at the kickoff event for MLK Day and then plan to volunteer at Freedom House.

From 10 a.m. to noon, college community members will be at area social service agencies including Feeding America, Paul's Pantry, Freedom House, Einstein Project, House of Hope, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Literacy Green Bay.
