St. Norbert College Music Theartre Auditions for Summer Productions Set

St. Norbert College Music Theatre announces audition dates for its two productions this summer: “Sondheim on Sondheim” and “Anastasia: The Musical.” Information for both shows can be found at http://snc.edu/musictheatre.
Music Theatre - Summer Stage will hold auditions for “Sondheim on Sondheim” on April 2 beginning at noon in Dudley Birder Hall, 400 Grant Street. Auditionees should prepare two contrasting, one-minute Stephen Sondheim excerpts to sing. The cast will be 8-12 people. Registration is required prior to auditioning. Music Theatre - Next Stage will hold cast, crew and pit orchestra auditions for “Anastasia: The Musical” on May 23 and 24 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Walter Theatre, 315 3rd Street. Next Stage is open to all high-school students who are currently in their freshman year through and including, seniors who graduate in spring 2022. Next Stage is also seeking a young female, age 7-10, to play the role of Young Princess Anastasia and Prince Alexei Romanov. The child performer must be able to pass as an 8-year-old. Registration is required prior to auditioning. All ethnicities, gender identities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to audition. Important details for each audition group:

Cast auditionees should prepare to sing approximately one minute of a musical theatre, memorized, and plan to learn a short dance combination.
Crew auditions should plan to discuss areas of technical theatre they are interested in and/or have experience in.
Pit orchestra auditionees should prepare the appropriate musical excerpt from the list on the Next Stage website and plan to sight-read music. Pit orchestra auditions will be one-on-one.
Children actors auditioning for the part of Young Princess Anastasia and Prince Alexei Romanov will audition beginning at 4 p.m. on May 23 and 24. Those auditioning should be able to sing, follow directions, execute basic blocking and stage movements, and memorize lines, music and blocking. Parents are asked to accompany their child for the entire audition process.

Music and lyrics for “Sondheim on Sondheim” are written by Stephen Sondheim, and the show was conceived and directed on Broadway by James Lapine. “Sondheim on Sondheim” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). The book for “Anastasia: The Musical” was written by Terrence McNally with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. It is inspired by the Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture production by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical from the play by Marcelle Maurette, as adapted by Guy Bolton. “Anastasia: The Musical” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. http://www.concordtheatricals.com
