Some of her favorite past roles in high school include Kate in Working and Josephine “Old Ma” Strong in Urinetown. She absolutely loves this musical and all of the symbolism, lore, and emotion that was put into its creation. During each rehearsal, Emily was able to work with a creative and dedicated cast and creative team that taught her many lessons for theatre and beyond. Emily would like to thank her family, friends, and all of her past choral and theatre directors that supported her and instilled in her the passion for music and theatre. She is beyond excited to be a part of this production, and she hopes you enjoy the show.
Jake Vanderleest (Ensemble) is a student of Notre Dame Academy and has been in various productions including Addams Family, School of Rock, Miss Saigon, Shrek, Seussical, and High School Musical. He plans to continue music and acting in the future and is always looking to improve his skill set in theatrical and musical studies. Jekyll and Hyde had been one of his favorite theatre experiences due to the excess of drama and meaningful musical numbers.
Mattea Vecera (Ensemble) is in her second Next Stage production. Her favorite part about the experience are all of the long-lasting friendships she has made. The passion we all have for theatre is truly shown on and off of the stage. She is so grateful to be part of such a wonderful program, and can’t wait to perform this show for an audience. Thank you to everyone involved in this program and to those have shown their support by coming to see the show!
James Viall (Fly Rail Operator) is a senior Theatre Studies major here at SNC and is delighted to be part of their third Next Stage production. Their previous theatre credits include: Stop Kiss (Light Board Operator), She Kills Monsters (Assistant Stage Manager), The Tempest (Trinculo), and Ghosts of Myself (Sound Board Operator) for SNC Theatre Studies. For SNC Knight Theatre they have been involved in Legally Blonde (Light Board Operator) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Props Designer, Assistant Costume Designer). For SNC Summer Stage: Mary Poppins (Fly Rail Crew). For SNC Next Stage: Crazy for You (Flute/Piccolo) and School of Rock (Run Crew). For Richmond Shakespeare Festival: Macbeth and The Winter’s Tale (Scene Shop/Charge Artist/Run Crew Intern).
Sage Voyles (Flute) has been playing flute nearly constantly since she was in fifth grade (just ask her sister!). She is a Drum Major, first chair flute, and section leader at WDPHS. Jekyll and Hyde is her fourth pit band experience, after Addams Family, Sister Act, and Grease. She auditioned because she loves the intensity of a pit band and she wanted to experience a near-professional atmosphere of playing. She would like to thank her parents, for the support they’ve given her in all her musical endeavors, and also her sister, Cerese, for playing J&H soundtracks so much that she almost has the entire musical memorized.
Matthew Wautier (General Lord Glossop) is entering his Senior year of High School. This is his first Next Stage Production and he wished he would have auditioned sooner. He has been involved in theatre since 7th grade and there is nothing he loves more than being on stage. Being in a Next Stage production has allowed for tremendous growth. His plan is to pursue Musical Theatre in college. Matthew has met some amazing people through this production and not only will he remember this amazing show of Jekyll and Hyde, but he’ll always remember the friendships and memories he made with the cast.
Sean Wayka (Ensemble) is going into his senior year of high school, this is his third performance with Next Stage and enjoys the professional experience. He would like to thank his friends and family for there support.
Katelyn Werner (Box Office Manager / Social Media) is in her 2nd year at SNC as the Box Office Manager. She was introduced to theatre by her older sister in the 7th grade and became more involved in the arts through high school. She decided to further pursue the arts in college and received an Arts Management degree from UW-Stevens Point in 2015. During college, Katelyn worked a variety of Arts Administration internships and began her box office career at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, MA. If you can’t find Katelyn in the SNC Box Office, she’s probably on a motorcycle ride, playing music, at a concert or binge-watching Gilmore Girls.
Rebekah Witte (Assistant Stage Manager) is ecstatic about the entirety of this production. She’s been involved in the Next Stage program for the past three years in Crazy for You, Miss Saigon and School of Rock. Each year becomes more fantastic than the last. She would like to thank her mom for always supporting her in her pursuit of the arts and shouts out to one of the most amazing casts she’s ever worked with. Jekyll and Hyde truly is a beautiful tragedy.
Anna Zimmermann (Red Rat Girl/Ensemble) is thrilled to be a part of Jekyll and Hyde!  This is her first show with Next Stage. Some of her previous theatre experiences include Penelope Jane in Divine Stella Devine, JoJo in Seussical, and Carmen in Fame!  Anna would like to thank her wonderful parents for all their love and support. She also wants to thank her dance team members for helping her catch up on all the routines she missed by going to Jekyll and Hyde rehearsal.  Special thanks to Mrs. Hearden for encouraging her to audition and being an amazing choreographer.
