Frequently Asked Questions

How do the credits work?
Courses are clearly designated as St. Norbert College courses and are applied towards degree requirements at St Norbert as designated in the course description. The registrar’s office will send a transcript to any college or university at the student’s request. While some schools don’t accept transfer credits as a policy, most colleges and universities do accept St. Norbert College credit courses due to the history and reputation of our program.

What is dual credit?
A dual credit course is a college course taken by a high school student for which the student earns both college and high school credit at the same time. College Jumpstart dual credit courses are taught on the high school campus during high school hours by teachers that have been approved by St Norbert as adjunct faculty. By participating in College Jumpstart, a student can make substantial progress toward a college degree before finishing high school.

How do I obtain a transcript?
Courses you take through College Jumpstart will appear on a St. Norbert College transcript. This is your official record of enrollment at the college and is maintained by the office of the registrar. You must request an official transcript from St. Norbert College to be sent to the university or college you are attending (unless you are coming to SNC, then no transcript is needed) in order to transfer your credits. Contact the university you are attending to find whether the transcript needs to be a hard-copy or electronic version. There is a fee for sending transcripts.

St. Norbert College transcripts are ordered online through the National Student Clearinghouse. A link to this request form can be found on the registrar’s website

How do I register?
Each winter, the teachers and counselors at College Jumpstart participating high schools announce the following year’s program. They conduct pre-testing at the high schools in February or March for English and mathematics courses. Each applicant must provide an updated transcript and take the appropriate pre-test. St. Norbert College selects participants based on the applicant’s overall GPA, past grades in the discipline and test scores. Once selected, the applicant works with his or her counselor to schedule the College Jumpstart course for the following semester and fill out an online registration form. Payment for the course(s) is due during the first two weeks of the high school’s fall semester. For more information about this, please refer to the student handbook.

How do I find out if the credits transfer at another institution?
Please contact the registrar's office at your prospective college or university for complete information on how St. Norbert College Jumpstart classes transfer.
