Summer Orientation

Every summer, new students are invited to join us to kick off their college experience. This is your chance to meet some of your classmates, spend time with an academic advisor, select your first classes and find out about life on campus. Summer orientation and registration has been broken into three phases for 2021.

Orientation Phases
Phase One (virtual): You’ll meet with an academic advisor and get registered for classes from home in mid- to late-May.

Phase Two (in-person): You’ll come to campus for a day-long experience in June that will provide you with information about campus resources, tours of residence halls, and the opportunity to meet several of your new classmates. There will be sessions for both students and family members. We encourage you to bring a family member, but due to anticipated COVID-19 restrictions, we request that you only bring one family member.

Phase Three (virtual): There will be virtual sessions for both family members and students in July. This will allow you the opportunity to ask questions that you didn’t think of in June and meet more faculty and staff.

Phase 1

Information about academic advising and registering for classes coming soon.

Phase 2

For 2021, we will be limiting each student to only one guest. You are encouraged to bring one family member with you to Summer Orientation. Theses sessions focus on tips for college parents, payment plans, housing contracts and meal plans. Your guest can tour the residence halls, too.

There are eight different opportunities to attend orientation in June. Each session has a limited enrollment, and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to sign up as soon as possible when registration opens on Feb. 1 to have the best chance of getting your top choice. Sign up will be open to students who have submitted their enrollment deposit.

    • Anything that happens on Zoom will be recorded and we'll share links to recordings here.
  • We will have a session just for parents to ask questions of more experienced SNC parents.
    • If we still have COVID-19 restrictions in the fall, we’ll definitely have a session about that and we may have more sessions about ways to get involved beyond the classroom.
