In what ways have you grown during your time at SNC?
Reflecting on the person I was when I first entered St. Norbert College, I see how much I've transformed not only as a student but as a person. At SNC, I learned the importance of being part of a community and the joy of learning even in the small moments whether that be late-night rehearsals alongside friends, communication with professors outside of class time, or playing and sharing music with the community at-large. Music has always been at the center of my life, however, it has now become something even deeper; it has become a way to connect with others and to connect others at a deeper level then just appreciating the music. I’ve gained confidence, not just in performing/teaching, but in believing in myself and trusting in the journey I'm on regardless of what obstacles may be presented or encountered. I learned to balance hard work with ease, how to support others, and how to accept support when I feel I don’t need it. The friendships, mentorships and memories I’ve created here have transformed me into an individual who is more resilient, empathetic, and hopeful for what the future holds.

How has receiving scholarship support impacted your college journey?
Scholarship support made it possible for me to fully experience everything SNC has to offer. Because of the generosity, I was able to dedicate myself to my studies, ensembles, leadership roles, and community engagement without financial pressure. It allowed me to take part in staying here at the college, participate in undergraduate research, and have the ability to participate in professional development opportunities that shaped who I am today. Knowing that donors believed in my potential and the potential of so many here at SNC motivates me to work harder and give back whenever and wherever I can. I am incredibly grateful for the doors that scholarship support opened for me and giving me such an impactful college experience opening the door to many opportunities that I may not have had if I had financial struggles to deal with.

What unique opportunities or experiences at SNC do you feel set it apart from other colleges?
One thing that sets SNC apart is how quickly students are connected with real-world experiences. From my very first semester, I was helping in schools, playing with community ensembles, and building relationships beyond campus even being new to the area. The college also offers personal mentorship that extends beyond academics; faculty genuinely care about students’ lives and futures both inside and outside of academics that the student needs to learn while here. I had opportunities to engage in undergraduate research, perform with professional musicians, and attend events that few undergraduates get to experience because of my connections on and off-campus. That combination of community, opportunity, and personal attention/connections makes St. Norbert College truly unique from other colleges.

In what ways have you grown during your time at SNC?
I have grown in ways at SNC that I never imagined. Coming in to college, I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I graduated, and I had nobody here that I had known previously to coming to SNC. I fully immersed myself into the offerings at St. Norbert, by being a part of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams here, as well as joining SAAC, and applying for a Phonathon calling job within the Advancement Department. At first, I really missed home and I didn’t know if SNC was the place for me. After a few months of developing a new friend group and adjusting to my new surroundings, I grew to really like this place. I was excited to come back for Sophomore year, and continue to live my life here. By junior year, I truly loved SNC, and I am so grateful for each day that I’m able to be a student here. Now, with graduation coming up, I can look back and see that I am not the same person I was when I got here freshman year. I am a more educated, stronger, more resilient version of myself. This is because of the immersive and unique experiences that SNC offered to me that I took full advantage of. At SNC, I have been able to learn more about my field of study, while also learning more about myself and who I want to become.

How has receiving scholarship support impacted your college journey?
I would not be at St. Norbert without achieving scholarship, and this makes receiving scholarship incredibly important to me because I truly can’t imagine my life without my experience here. The opportunities and experiences that I have had here have been those that I will take with me for the rest of my life, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to be here.

What unique opportunities or experiences at SNC do you feel set it apart from other colleges?
What set SNC apart from other schools that I applied to was that I knew that at the school that I attended, I wanted to be more than just a number. I wanted to have the opportunity to make real connections in the community, and to make an impact on the campus, even in small ways. I believe that SNC is an environment where students are given all of the resources that they need to thrive and there are so many ways that people can grow in all aspects of their life.
