Dunk-the-Prez Event Headlines Daylong Fundraiser

Wednesday, April 27, brings the college’s second annual All Hands on Deck Day. The fundraiser set a one-day record for donations to the St. Norbert Fund in 2015; a mark the college hopes to surpass this year.

More than 800 members of the college community gave on All Hands on Deck Day last year. Aided by matching gifts from several anonymous donors, they contributed more than $300,000 to support St. Norbert students.

Again this year, matching donations will provide extra incentive to give – as will a unique opportunity made possible by the adventuresome spirit of college president Tom Kunkel.

Those who give online during All Hands on Deck Day will be treated to the chance – also online – to submerge Kunkel in a dunk tank. Watch social media and your email in the coming weeks for messages from the dunkee-in-waiting. And, check out our social media toolkit for more ways you can get in on the action.

Dedicated days of giving have taken hold at colleges nationwide in recent years, with alumni and others welcoming the opportunity to join together in a common cause. Lawrence University surpassed the $1 million mark with their second annual Lawrence Giving Day in November of last year. In a first Dickinson Day of Giving in 2015, the Pennsylvania college set a mark of 2,017 donors; this year, they’re raising the bar slightly in recognition of their incoming class, hoping for 2,020 gifts.

As St. Norbert enjoys record enrollments of new students, it also embraces the responsibility to help them meet the rising costs of a college education – particularly so for those who are from families of modest means. That is a commitment shared by many in the college community, as the first All Hands on Deck Day demonstrated so convincingly – and this year’s event is expected to affirm that once again.
