Trans 101

A “year of bell hooks” program following the call of hooks’ Teaching to Transgress, Trans* 101 features two events. Helen Boyd will lead a discussion on her book, She’s Not the Man I Married, in which she explores life with her transgender partner, and analyzes gender and how it plays out in relationships. Boyd will also give a public talk on understanding transgender issues especially on campus and in the classroom.

Prof. Helen Boyd is an award-winning writer, speaker, and professor. Author of My Husband Betty and She’s Not the Man I Married, she has appeared on a variety of media in including PBS and the Dr. Keith Ablow Show. Boyd teaches Gender Studies at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis.
