Humans of St. Norbert:

“I didn’t start track until my sophomore year of high school. It was mostly due to the fact that I had been playing softball. I enjoyed the sport, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as volleyball and basketball. I decided that I didn’t want to do softball anymore, but I didn't want to not do anything. I do better when I’m busy. My mom used to do track, she was a thrower, as well. She was like: ‘Just do track.’ I was like: ‘I don’t want to run.’ Then, she was like: ‘Just be a thrower.’ That’s how I got into it. I tried it and really enjoyed the team aspect of track and field, as well as the individual.

“Now, I'm a volunteer assistant throws coach. The transition from student-athlete to coach has been weird. Last year was the weirdest since I had competed with the majority of the team members. On the track team, they really want you to address the coaches as ‘Coach [Last Name].’ Most of the people on the team didn’t see me as Coach Kruse, they saw me as Hannah. So it was weird. It also makes me miss it a little bit more.”
