Humans of St. Norbert:

“I actually started drumming through playing guitar hero. I thought, I’ll do this as a hobby. Of course at that age, kids don’t want to be musicians. I was like, ‘I want to be a football player,’ or ‘I want to be a basketball player.’ So, I used to do percussion as a hobby until my 7th grade year. One of my music teachers wanted me to go into percussion because I was always interested and watching them. So I did. Within less than a year, I became captain of the percussion team. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a musician. So throughout high school, I worked really hard in band. I became section leader of the group by my sophomore year in high school and all through my senior year. It was basically my job to make sure my section was under control and that they knew their parts.

“My favorite part is the performance aspect. Whenever I perform, I will always get at least one person out of the whole crowd that will say something like, ‘Your playing has impacted me in a positive manner.’ I always express my emotions through my playing. I’m not just reading notes or playing just because. I actually love what I do.”
