“My favorite part of college visits was the tour and I remember I had one really bad tour at a school and I thought it was a school that I was going to love. I really based my decision a lot on the campus tour and then when I got to St. Norbert, I was like, ‘I really think I would be good at that kind of job.’ So then I applied and I got the job at the end of my first year and then I was fully trained my sophomore, junior and senior year. I was actually the student coordinator so I was the one that made the tour guide schedule and organized all of the tour guides.

“When I was graduating my senior year, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do. The beauty of a communication degree is that you can do anything. However, the hard part about a communication degree is you can do anything! I always said that being a tour guide was my all-time favorite job that I ever had! I especially liked it when I got to work with students from Minnesota and give them tours. I just felt like I could relate to them on a whole other level because moving four hours away from home was absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I was able to relate to those students in that aspect. When the full-time position in the office of admission opened up my senior year and it was working with students from Minnesota and the western part of Wisconsin, it all just kind of felt like fate.

“When I started working full-time, the overlap of being a student and an employee was kind of a weird balance. I was learning things as a full-time employee and then also still trying to enjoy my senior year and be a student. It was really interesting, but my team did a really good job of making sure that I wasn’t overcommitting myself and that I did have that opportunity to enjoy my senior year with the rest of my friends.”
