Understand the future of technology

Whether you love designing websites, building database queries or teaching yourself a new type of computer language, you’ll feel right at home in St. Norbert College’s computer science department. At SNC, you’ll use computer science to examine complex problems and find solutions through the use of artificial intelligence, software design and computer graphics.

Our computer science students don’t just learn how to implement a piece of code, they can explain the logic behind it. Our rigorous liberal arts core curriculum supports you with a strong foundation in creative thinking, logic and problem-solving — which perfectly complements the algorithmic thinking needed in this area of study.

Computer science is a rapidly growing field that has a profound impact on our daily lives. Your coursework at SNC will also help you develop an awareness of the cultural, social, legal and ethical challenges the industry could face in the future.

Academic paths within the major

You’ll tailor our Bachelor of Science program to your interests by choosing a concentration in computer science, business information systems or graphic design and implementation systems. Some students also pursue a secondary teacher certification in computer science.

Elevate your computer science education

You want a computer science degree program that uses state-of-the-art technology. SNC encourages you to partner with professors on research using our powerful campus resources: an exploratory robotics laboratory, dedicated Linux server, computer-controlled railroad project and autonomous-robot labs. Once it’s time to test your skills on the job, perhaps you'll follow in the footsteps of SNC computer science majors who have interned with such companies as Acuity, Georgia-Pacific and Thrivent Financial. Collaborate with people across the globe and get an edge in the international job market via SNC’s study abroad program. Study computer animation in the United Kingdom or programming in Ecuador. Start thinking outside the box about your college experience!
