10 reasons to visit the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center

A lot goes on at the Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center besides Green Knight sporting events

We gathered a list of 10 things you can do in the newest upgrade to the St. Norbert campus. Some of them might surprise you!

When the swim and dive team or classes aren’t being held in the pool, it’s open for free swim. Change up your workout routine and go for a dip. You can even enjoy a view of the Fox River between laps. Be sure to check the pool hours before you go to find out when the pool is open to the whole campus.

Health Services gives St. Norbert students, faculty and staff the opportunity to take a first aid/CPR/AED-certification course through the American Heart Association. Sign up for the course today and earn your certification that will be valid for two years.

Whether you are working on your upper or lower body, the fitness center has all the equipment you need to reach your goals. From a wide selection of dumbbells and barbell-based equipment to the more streamlined lifting machines, you are sure to find something that works for you and your workout routine.

The complex isn’t just for physical exercise. It’s also a great place to study! There’s a nice cozy spot that overlooks the pool, and there are open classrooms and high-tops that line the windows by the main entrance. Switch things up and write your next paper or study for your next exam by the pool!

We all need some rest and relaxation from time to time. Reduce muscle tension and increase circulation with a massage from a licensed massage therapist. Services are available every third Thursday of the month at reasonable prices.

There are two stunning pieces of artwork that call the MFFSC home. Both were created by artist David Griggs and are inspired by the eternal cosmic Divine Dance (or perichoresis) of the Trinity. You can find the piece titled “Perichoresis” in the main lobby and the other, called “Dancing Waters,” on the first floor near the pool. Look closely to discover hidden gems in the glasswork!

Six SNC varsity sports use the MFFSC for home competitions. Men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s swim and dive teams offer an engaging fan experience for the campus and surrounding communities.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, a loss of someone close to you or just want to talk with someone, you can set up an appointment to speak with a counselor or psychologist through Counseling & Psychological Services, located on the second floor.

St. Norbert has a proud NCAA Division III tradition of athletes who have been both athletically and academically gifted. On the wall near the concession stand you can learn more about the Green Knight student-athletes who’ve earned Academic All-American status.

It is never fun being sick and it is bound to happen in a campus community. Get better sooner by stopping by Health Services, located on the second floor of the MFFSC. You can even take preventative measures and get your flu shots there, too!
