PHYS 111 Fundamentals of Physics 1 (fall) and PHYS 112 Fundamentals of Physics 2 (spring) or PHYS 121 General Physics 1 (fall) and PHYS 122 General Physics 2 (spring)

 

Eight credits from the following list of courses:

  • GEOL 230 GIS for Geosciences
  • GEOL 250 Geomorphology (alternate years)
  • GEOL 275 Historical Geology (alternate years)
  • GEOL 280 Introduction to Paleontology
  • GEOL 350 Glacial and Quaternary Geology
  • GEOL 389 Special Topics (2 or 4 credits)
  • GEOL 428 Environmental Geology Research
  • GEOL 490 Independent Study
  • GEOL 492 Directed Research
  • GEOL 496 Senior Thesis
All geology majors are required to attend a summer geology field camp, typically five to six weeks long, and usually taken between the junior and senior years of undergraduate study (transfers to SNC as GEOL 450).

Senior thesis (GEOL 496) and a second semester of Calculus and Analytic Geometry (MATH 132) are strongly recommended for those students who plan to attend graduate school.
