Finance

Take your finance major to the bank

Or to an investment company. Or a financial planning firm. Or an insurance company. Or a corporate finance department.

Finance majors prepare for work in the world of money, where banking, credit, debt and capital-markets activities shape our economy. As a finance major at Midwest-based SNC, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of banking, trading and economic principles, and learn methodologies for recognizing, analyzing and developing creative solutions to finance problems. You’ll also explore ethical issues in business finance, preparing you for a career as a principled, values-driven professional.

Academic paths within the finance major

With a robust selection of course offerings, you can receive a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in finance from SNC. A sampling of courses includes Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions and Markets and Advanced Financial Management.

Elevate your finance education

Internship opportunities for finance majors abound at businesses with strong ties to St. Norbert College, many of them regional, national and even global in scope. These internships will immerse you in real-world applications of your classroom learning and provide an early foundation for your professional network.

Students who are interested in pursuing the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst®, are also well-served by their finance courses. In addition, students who complete the finance major will be well-prepared to sit for the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) exam.

  • I think any other college or institution, it’s hard enough to get a regular undergraduate degree in four years, let alone like two and a half undergraduate degrees almost. Coming to St. Norbert allowed me to actually find what my vocation was beyond just in the classroom.

  • Upon reflecting on my time at SNC, I realize how very important being a well-rounded, community-minded human being is, in addition to being a good student. SNC helped me prepare a solid educational foundation for future success, but above all, SNC instilled and reinforced good values to practice in life.
