Supply chain management

Industries succeed or fail with supply chain management

Getting goods from their point of origin to their point of sale in a timely and predictable manner involves supply chains, which can be highly complex. Managing them well is critical – because if a part isn’t available from oversees, a production line can grind to a halt. If a finished product is held up in port, a company’s sales can dry up in an instant. Without a strong supply chain, your sister doesn't get her new iPhone, Fido doesn't get his next food delivery, and you don't get your MrBeast Burger. If consumers can’t get medicine, or baby formula, the consequences can be even more dire. The ripple effects of supply chain problems can impact entire economies – and entire societies.

Small wonder that supply chain managers are among the most sought-after professionals in business today. As a supply chain management major at Wisconsin-based SNC, your courses will teach you how to:

  • Quantitatively forecast inventory needs and build a logistics plan to meet demand
  • Acquire the ability to critically assess the costs and logistical requirements of setting up a physical goods supply chain
  • Use popular methodologies like six sigma and common technologies to make and implement practical decisions
  • And more

Academic paths in the supply chain management major

  • I think any other college or institution, it’s hard enough to get a regular undergraduate degree in four years, let alone like two and a half undergraduate degrees almost. Coming to St. Norbert allowed me to actually find what my vocation was beyond just in the classroom.

  • Upon reflecting on my time at SNC, I realize how very important being a well-rounded, community-minded human being is, in addition to being a good student. SNC helped me prepare a solid educational foundation for future success, but above all, SNC instilled and reinforced good values to practice in life.
