Sociology

Toward a more just society

Are you curious about the social issues and structures that form the basis of our society? Sociologists seek to understand how we relate to other people, how we organize, how we benefit from each other and why we sometimes make regrettable choices. As a sociology major at St. Norbert College, you’ll explore topics such as inequality, social class, race and social identity, immigration, privilege, gender and education. This knowledge will equip you to address human challenges with wisdom and care.

Want to gain a deep understanding of human relations? Or analyze statistics about cultural trends that fascinate you? Through our sociology studies curriculum, you’ll delve into research methods, building strong analytical and communication skills. You’ll also look at how individuals relate to social structures and how social organization and human interactions affect our lives. SNC empowers you to understand and engage with people of all types.

Academic paths within the sociology major

At SNC, you can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology studies. You might also decide to pursue secondary teaching certification through a sociology teaching major or minor.
